The brief history of Mercedes-Benz

Before we start talking about Mercedes-Benz luxury limousines, we wanted to tell you a bit about Mercedes-Benz’s history.

The most important men in the history of Mercedes Benz are:

  • Karl Benz (founder of Benz & Cie)
  • Gottlieb Daimler (co-founder of DMG alongside Wilhelm Maybach)

The Benz Patent Motor Wagon, created in 1886, by Karl Benz was one of the most outstanding discoveries of all time. That is actually the world’s first production car.

Gottlieb Daimler created the first gas-powered engine that could be used in cars. In 1901, his company produced a vehicle that was given the name Mercedes.

Mercedes became an instant success and it made Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) the biggest automobile manufacturer in the world.

Both companies continued to manufacture their cars separately until 1926 when they merged under the new name – Daimler-Benz AG.

All of the factories used the brand name of Mercedes-Benz on their vehicles due to some legal problems of using Daimler’s name.

With a history such as this one, it is no wonder that, nowadays, the Mercedes limousine is the most reliable car in the world.

What does the Mercedes-Benz logo mean?

The iconic three-point star emblem we know today was not the original emblem of the company. The emblem had several different designs. The first one was created by mixing:

maybach - luxury car brand - mercedes maybach

  • DMG’s three-point star symbol
  • Benz’s logo with a laurel wreath

When these two companies merged, their emblems merged as well. The silver tree point star was surrounded by a silver laurel wreath on a red background.

On top of the logo it was written Mercedes and on the bottom half, it was Benz. The tree-point star represents the land, sea, and air

The company states that the meaning of this emblem is the desire to have their engines dominating these three. Their goal is universal motorization with their motors being the best.

The best Mercedes limousine, or maybe the best 4?

The Mercedes S-Class, German for a special class, is a series of luxury sedans produced by the Mercedes Benz. This Mercedes limousine, with a couple of its variants, is in a league of its own.

Mercedes limo – S Class – we all love it for sure! | Source: Pixabay

The Mercedes S-class has four different lengths:

  1. The regular version of the sedan
  2. The long-wheelbase derivate
  3. Maybach version which is stretched even further
  4. Pullman

Even though the S class (and its variants) is without any doubt, the most exclusive Mercedes Benz limousine, one van, and one SUV managed to be part of that shortlist.

That van is the Mercedes-Benz V-Class and the SUV is a brand new Mercedes Maybach GLS.

Now we can start talking about the real deal.

Probably the best luxury limousines among all Mercedes-Benz models are:

  1. Mercedes Maybach s680
  2. Mercedes Maybach s600 Pullman Guard
  3. Mercedes Maybach GLS 600
  4. Mercedes-Benz V-Class Exclusive

What is Maybach?

Maybach was initially a luxury car brand, founded by Wilhelm Maybach after he quit Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (DMG). Maybach went out of business in the 1940s.

Mercedes revived the Maybach name around 2003 to create the ultimate luxury car brand to rival Rolls Royce.

But the cars they produced were huge flops. They looked too much like the regular S-class and no one was paying the big money they were asking.

It was a big failure and Mercedes quickly pulled the plug on the Maybach project.

But they still owned the Maybach name and wanted to use it. This is when they came up with a different strategy.

Instead of creating Maybach as a separate product, it would instead be a top-end trim level of regular Mercedes models.

They started with the S-class. Previous generations were named s560 and s650.

The new and improved S class is offered in two versions V8 s580 and V12 s680. The one we will talk about is Mercedes Maybach s680.

Mercedes Maybach s680 Luxury Limo

Mercedes Maybach s680 is a luxury car that people feel infatuated with as soon as they see it.

The subtle changes in speed and performance make this model stand out as one of the best high-end vehicles on the market.

This Mercedes limousine, first introduced in 2019, combines exclusive innovative features with two style options that elevate your driving experience.

Mercedes Maybach s680 exterior features

  • Redesigned exclusive grille with vertical slats and the word Maybach

Polished chrome accents highlight the front drawing attention to the advanced headlights with the Digital Light Technology

Amazing Digital Light Technology

This is a new technology that provides HD quality of the headlamps. Thanks to the sensors and cameras integrated in it, headlights can show warning icons on the road depending on the situation and the surroundings of the car.

If you drive this Mercedes limousine at night, sensors will detect any pedestrian on the road ahead, and the headlights will show a pedestrian icon on the road thanks to the Digital Light.

Most of the customers choose a two-tone paint finish.

This Mercedes limo offers 10 different two-tone paint finishes, but buyers can choose 15 monochrome options as well.

The extra length of the wheelbase is best seen at the back seat where the passengers get more legroom space for even more comfort.

There are 4 exclusive wheel options available. The 21-inch one mimics the design of the champagne flutes that are in the back seat of the car.

Door handles are popping up whenever you approach the car or when you unlock the car.

The C pillar at the back of the car has an engraved Maybach logo which becomes illuminated at night.

The thing that stands out the most in this Mercedes limousine is the rear door that can be opened automatically while you are approaching the car. Once inside you can close them with a simple gesture.

Pretty cool feature, right?

The MBUX infotainment system helps you control everything in this Mercedes limo and it completely replaces the need for buttons in the car.

The Burmester high-end 4D surround sound system allows you to truly experience the music. There are 30 speakers and two massive subs in the trunk.

Panorama sunroof in the Mercedes limousine provides a breathtaking sky view. The front panel can tilt up for ventilation, or slide over for an open-air feeling.

The power shades overhead, behind, and at side windows offer protection from the sun and provide privacy.

Magic sky control is a technology that alters the transparency of the panoramic roof. It minimizes the amount of thermal energy that enters the cabin and blocks the UV rays.

The back seat of this car is a special place. You can completely recline and enjoy a massage of your whole body. This is the first Mercedes Benz limousine to offer calf massage.

The rear-seat entertainment system of Mercedes Maybach s680 includes 2 flat screens and a tablet from a center console. With this tablet, you can control everything in the car.

This luxury limousine is powered by a 6.0L V12 bi-turbo engine.

There is so much more that we can tell you about this luxury sedan but, all in all, if you want to enjoy opulence and luxury the Mercedes Maybach s680 is for you.

Mercedes Maybach s600 Pullman Guard

The Pullman name had the meaning of luxuriously spacious and extremely comfortable railway coaches built by the American Pullman Palace Car Company.

In 1920 the name Pullman started to be used with additional meaning. In the car industry, it represented large, comfortable luxurious cars as well as prestigious limousines with separate driver’s seats and passenger compartments.

Since then, the Mercedes Benz uses the name Pullman to offer luxury limousines with a very big and comfortable backseat space to its customers.

Mercedes Maybach’s s600 Pullman Guard is as the top of the line as it can go. It is an ultra-expensive Gard version of the Pullman vehicles. It takes a year and a half for it to be made.

It is stretched to a whopping six and a half meters (256 inches).

This is a very heavy luxury car that weighs 5.6 tons (11,200 pounds). The engine that can move this beast is a twin-turbo V12 engine with 523 horsepower and 900 Newton-meters of torque.

The price tag of the Mercedes Maybach s600 is unsurprisingly very high. It costs around 1.5 million dollars. It is the most expensive model you can buy from Mercedes if you don’t consider the already sold-out AMG One.

This car is made for the heads of states, diplomats, royalty, or any individuals who are at high risk. It offers them complete safety. It has the highest level of VR 9 and is also blast resistant.

This Mercedes-Benz limousine is a flagship model for the Maybach family.

The complete design is done by Mercedes but they outsource it to Brabus to do the extension.

Is this limousine armored?

Yeah, Pullman s600 Guard is armored

This Mercedes limousine is armored to protect the passengers from any danger they may face. Even the tires are modified to be bulletproof.

You can barely see the special protection equipment from the outside. The basic structure is reinforced and integrated into the protection of the bodyshell. Because of that, this car has outstanding strength and stability.

The rear windows are armored and there is the steel bulkhead positioned behind the seats for an even higher level of protection.

The overall protection is up to the VR9 protection class standard. This includes glass areas.

It also is blast resistant and meets Directive ERV 2010 requirements. It would take a lot of firepower to compromise the lives of the Mercedes Maybach s600 Pullman Guard’s passengers.

Spacious and luxurious Pullman Guard`s interior

The Mercedes Maybach s600 Pullman Guard has all the extravagant features of the Maybach series as well as plenty of space which makes it one of the best luxury limousines in the world.

The standard equipment is all leather upholstery, partition from the driver, and reclining executive seats with adjustable footrests. There are many customizations available to the customers too.

Four passengers can enjoy the journey in the rear compartment in these exclusive face-to-face seats.

The partition between the chauffeur and the passengers is enough to allow some privacy between the passengers and the driver.

It can turn opaque by simply pressing a button. This is possible because highly electrically conductive polymer material is integrated into the glass.

The crystals become transparent when the electricity flows through them. As soon as the power is shut off, they turn opaque again.

The interior has all the features of the Mercedes Maybach s680 and some more. The top speed of this “beast” is limited to 160km/h due to its size and weight.

The thickness of the windows on this Mercedes limousine is impressive, it has bulky doors, sirens, and flashing lights. There are also flagpoles available and emergency buttons are integrated into one of the cupholders.

One very interesting feature is an external communication system. This system has a loudspeaker and a microphone that allows conversation with the outside world without even opening the door.

This comes in very handy in high-risk situations. It is also good for eavesdropping.
